It is my joy to serve as the Lead Pastor of Parkwood Baptist church. Since I was a child I have felt the call of God to be a pastor and it is a pleasure to serve the same church that molded my faith and empowered that call. Alongside me is my wife Christina. We met as friends in Middle School and began to date as seniors in High School. Christina is truly my number one fan, muse and helper. Doing ministry together has been one of the greatest highlights of my life. Together we have traveled the world and worked to bring hope to the hopeless through Elpis International. When not spending time with my wife you will probably find me eating things made with peanut butter, singing random bits of songs (adding my own lyrics) or using a map to get lost on an adventure.

After over seven years of awesome service our beloved Student Director, Critter Christoffersen stepped down to focus on career and family. Currently Parkwood is accepting resumes to fill this vacancy. Please email Pastor Manny if you are interested or would like to refer someone to this position.
Children & Families Director
I love being a part of Parkwood and working with the children. I have the blessing of serving alongside my wife Misty. We have 4 children, Daniel, Courtney, Hannah and Noah. As a parent I know the importance of discipling children. I also know that its hard to wear so many hats as a parent. That is why the PDub Kids Club seeks to a partner with parents. We hope to love children to Jesus as they grow and to be a partner to parents to help them disciple their children and teach them to love and follow Jesus. Connect with will through email or follow him on Facebook and Twitter.
Parkwood Weekday Early Education
I have the privilege of directing a multi-generational small group, and I'm also the director of the Weekday Early Education Program here at Parkwood. What a blessing both of these ministries are for me.
Parkwood Baptist Church is such a vital part of my life. The church has been with us through our son's death, our daughter's marriage, happy times and sad times. I am so thankful to be a part of such a loving family.
Interim Music Director
We are pleased to welcome Mason to give direction to our musicians, vocalists and congregation. Mason brings a fresh voice and attitude to the Parkwood music scene. As an accomplished vocalist and pianist he leads worship with a passion to lead all who gather in giving glory to our savior Jesus.
Community Development & Church Planter in Residence
I came to Parkwood by chance. I was heading to Journey church and the road was blocked off and I had to detour to go another way and got lost. I tried to find other churches but kept being turned around, finally I put in nearest church from where I was parked; I was determined to go to church this particular morning, Parkwood's name showed up on my GPS and I pulled into the church parking lot. After much prayer my wife and I joined April 14, 2013.
Currently my role at Parkwood is serving as the community benevolence coordinator. I have a strong desire to plant a new church and with the help of the JBA and being the church planter in residence at Parkwood I hope to begin that endeavor soon.
Financial Director & Missions Deacon
I was born in Adak Alaska and raised in Lakeside California. Served in the Navy for 34 years and now work as a civil servant.
After moving Jacksonville, I was asked to come to Parkwood by a young man that lived in the neighborhood who had a crush on my daughter. After the first visit my family and I were taken by how friendly the people were. We were accepted into Parkwood and made to feel at home and have never left.
I have been gifted by God with the ability to track dollars. When asked to serve on the Stewardship Committee I tried to make the dollars tell the Good News of Christ at our church and have been doing that now for about 10 years. I also am a part of the youth group, a small group leader, Deacon and part of two different foreign mission fields (International Mission Builders) building churches in Honduras and Elpis International (Hope) caring for orphan/deprived children in Ethiopia.
Small Groups Director & Family Ministry Deacon
God has blessed me with Mary, my beautiful partner in life and love. In addition, He has given us four amazing children (now adults), Brendon, Emily/Eric, and Forrest. It seems that they still don't mind hanging out with us occasionally... thankful for that! When I can get a breather from managing IT projects for one of the Class 1 railroads, I enjoy outdoor projects, music, and reading. Life can be overwhelming - so I especially enjoy writers who help us connect the dots, and focus on "living in the good of the gospel". I really get a kick out of "watching the light come on" in the lives of others - so teaching is a labor of love that I continually find myself drawn into.
Michael Wolle Arega
Pastor of Ethiopian Evangelical Church of Jacksonville & President of Elpis International
My wife Haimi and I came to Jacksonville in 2004. The call of God was on my heart to see the nations come to Christ. Since that time God has given us 3 wonderful boys; Barnabas, Joshua and Jonathan. He also birthed in me the desire to plant churches and give hope to the people of Ethiopia. Through Elpis International I have seen several churches started in America and multiple feeding centers in Ethiopia. These provide hope to the lost and dying. Pray for me as this ministry expands and join me as we see the Hope of Christ spread all over the world. Connect with Michael at 904-727-3501 or email or the ECCJ website
